Built to last for centuries, these churches often began with years of preparation — timber soaked in salt solutions for decades, making it resistant to rain and even fire. As a result, we can still admire these sacred treasures today, many of which have fascinating “biographies” of repairs, rebuilds, and even relocations, sometimes moved from one place to another multiple times.
